The Public Working in Partnership with Bedfordshire Police for 40 years
Supporting Community Safety and Crime Prevention Across Bedfordshire
Standards
Our organisation supports the Seven Principles of Public Life (“The Nolan Principles”). These principles guide the behaviour and expectations of all members and underpin our commitment to acting in the public interest.
Selflessness
Members should act solely in terms of the public interest and must not seek personal gain or advantage.
Integrity
Members must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to individuals or organisations that might inappropriately influence their work. They should not act or make decisions to secure financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family or their friends. All relevant interests and relationships must be declared and managed appropriately in line with our conflict of interest guidance.
Objectivity
Members must act and make decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best available evidence and without discrimination or bias.
Accountability
Members are accountable for their decisions and actions and should be prepared to provide clear explanations when required.
Openness
Members should act and make decisions in an open and transparent manner. Information should not be withheld from the public unless there are clear, lawful reasons for doing so.
Honesty
Members should be truthful in their actions, decisions and communications.
Leadership
Members should demonstrate these principles in their own behaviour and treat others with respect. They should actively promote and support the principles and challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs, in line with our standards of conduct.
