Overseas registration scheme
As of 4 August 2022, foreign nationals are no longer required to register with the police as an overseas visitor.
This is due to changes to the wider immigration system that mean you’re likely to be asked about your circumstances before you travel to the UK.
What this means for foreign nationals
This change applies to foreign nationals in the following situations.
If you are already registered with the police and were asked to register again to enter or remain in the UK, you will now not need to do so.
You don’t need to notify the police of any changes to your circumstances.
If you have been issued with a visa with the requirement to register, but are yet to travel to the UK, you will either be reissued with a new visa or notified in advance of your travel.
Existing appointments and visas There is no need to attend, or pay for, any existing appointments. However, you will not be refunded if you have already paid the fee because it covered the cost of processing your application. If you are already in the UK, there is no need to keep your police registration certificate.
